| RANGE: England. HISTORY: Black Orpingtons were perfected by William cook of Kent, England in 1880, who wanted to develop a new breed to merchandise. William Cook quickly developed and marketed Buff Orpingtons once the blacks were well accepted. Breeding started in 1886 and the first apperance of Buff was in the 1894 Dairy Show. SUB SPECIES: -Black Orpington -Buff Orpington -White Orpington -Blue Orpington DESCRIPTION:Cock is 4.5 kg and the hen is about 3.6 kg in weight. AVAIRY POSITION:Wire based 2m2 avairy. FEEDING: Pellets, green food, seeds. BREEDING AGE: 6 Months. BREEDING SEASON:In suitable conditions all the year. NUMBER OF EGGS IN A YEAR: 120-150 eggs. INCUBATION PERIOD: 21 days. |
