BLOOD PHEASANT   /  Ithaginis cruentus
RANGE: Distribution is from Nepal, throughout Tibet and northern Burma , to northwest China.
HABITAT:In summer they live 3300m-4500m but in winter they go down around 2700 m.
HISTORY: Hardwicke 1822.
DISCRIPTION: They have 14 subspecies. It is really difficult to breed them in avairies but these days there are more birds in avairies.
AVAIRY POSITION:14 m2 with sand based or 100 m2 with grass based.
FEEDING: They always prefer green food and in the wild they eat mostly lichens.
BREEDING AGE: First year.
BREEDING SEASON: Females start laying eggs after 15 th of april.
NUMBER OF EGGS IN A YEAR: 10-24 eggs.
INCUBATION PERIOD: 27-29 days.
SPECIAL NOTE: They are the most difficult specy of all the pheasants.
