RANGE: The Far
East; China , Japan ; introduced into southern England.
HABITAT:Ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers in
deciduous forests, none of them with abuudant food sources; also; mountain lakes in
evergreen forests. Migratory birds.
GENERAL INFO: They are one
of the beatiful ducks of the world. It is easy to breed them and they are winter
hardy. In their native habitat they use tree holes, they require always nest
boxes. the
nest boxes should be 50 cm above the ground and a small ladder should lead up to the
entry hole so that birds with clipped wings can get to the nest.
DESCRIPTION: Male 43 cm. They can get very well with the
other ducks.
AVAIRY POSITION:Well planted 12m2 avairy with a
pond.
FEEDING: Corn,
wheat, oats, rye, millet, milo , stale bread, potatoe, greens and pellet
feeds.
BREEDING AGE: Second
year but also in the first year they can lay eggs.
